"Ty Hafod is a fairly small home 5 minutes north of Cardiff. I've always been impressed to be greeted by name and told which part of the home Mum was in when I arrived, indicating that they're keeping a close eye on everyone at all times. My Mum spent 3 happy years here in this welcoming and very friendly home. The care and support has always been excellent, but in the last few weeks when Mum entered end of life care, all of the staff surpassed their already very high standards, not just for Mum, but in supporting me as well. Witnessing the level of care and concern for her welfare and dignity has made a very difficult few weeks so much easier to bear. I've never doubted that I'd chosen the right home for Mum and this view has been reinforced by the exceptional level of care we've experienced recently. I would recommend Ty Hafod to anyone looking for a safe and friendly home; the outstanding care is reinforced by excellent food and a very high level of cleanliness."
"Ty Hafod Care Home is a very warm and friendly place that exudes a lovely homely feel as soon as you enter the premises. My mother has only recently moved into this care home, and all the staff there have made her feel very welcome, which has helped her settle into her new surroundings very quickly. The manager has also been excellent in taking time out to make my mother feel very comfortable and relaxed in communicating to her the high standard of service levels that is expected by all staff working there. Ty Hafod is a very clean and well laid out care home that provides eating areas and communal TV rooms, allowing residents to interact when they are happy to do so. The private rooms are very spacious and have a lovely view of the surrounding rural countryside area, which is very peaceful and quiet. The wide selection of food provided to all the residents is very good and is of a high standard. Overall, I am very happy to have my mother reside here."

Manager
"Hi my name is Emma I am a qualified Nurse and had 18 years experience in the care home sector QCF level in Leadership and Management . My job is to ensure our residents are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve and to lead my team to ensure a high standard of care is delivered. My passion is ensuring out residents live their best life's. The highlight of my day are seeing our residents smile and ensuring they are safe and comfortable."
Responsible Individual
"Hi, my name is Donna and I am currently a Responsible Individual and interim manager at Ty Hafod. I have worked in care for over 20 years, starting as a care assistant and progressing to Home Manager. My passion lies with continually improving our standards and quality of care. I am extremely lucky that I love my job, and for me, it is the little things that make a difference for our residents and our staff."
Home Administrator
"My name is Taniesha, and I have been the Home Administrator at Ty Hafod for two years. I’ve worked in the care industry for nine years, beginning as a Care Assistant—a role I loved for its ability to make a real difference in residents’ lives. I later became an Activities Coordinator, which allowed me to continue supporting residents from a different perspective. I have since progressed to the role of Home Administrator. Although it is very different from my previous roles, I enjoy it just as much, as it allows me to work closely with our residents and their families."
Senior Nurse
"Hi, my name is Latisha. Since 2019, I’ve been working at Ty Hafod Care Home as a Nurse. I qualified as a Registered Nurse in Grenada in 2014 and gained experience in medical, surgical, A&E, and Theatre departments, which has equipped me with the skills to meet our residents’ needs. Moving to the UK and into a care home setting was a big change, but one I truly value. It has allowed me to grow my knowledge, develop new skills, and experience a new culture. I have recently progressed to the role of Clinical Lead at Ty Hafod, a position I am thoroughly enjoying."
Chef
"I am Sarah, I’m 34. I have been a chef at Ty Hafod for 6 months. I relocated to Cardiff from Cornwall at the beginning of 2025. I have worked in Hospitality and Catering since the age of 14, in a variety of kitchens, from Hotels,Cafes and Care Homes. I love to travel and spent 10 months of 2024 back packing Australia and New Zealand, I also lived in Spain for 4 years which has added to my love of European cuisine."
Maintenance
"My name is James, and I’ve worked in social care for 13 years. I’m the Maintenance Officer at Ty Hafod Care Home and love making a positive difference to residents’ lives. I’m proud to have won Outstanding Contribution in 2022 and was Highly Commended by the Great British Care Awards in 2023. As the judges said, 'James is a tour de force and a natural care sector superhero, whose energy and empathy make a big difference every day."
Activities Coordinator
"My Name is Michelle, I'm the Activities coordinator at Ty Hafod. I am fairly new in my role at the home; however, I have worked previously in other activity roles. I have two children and a very crazy labradoodle dog. My hobbies are walking, gardening and I absolutely love travelling and exploring new places."
